Come and join this popular clas! Originally a seperate drawing and painting class, this course has evolved. Come dabble in as much of both as you can and push yourself to the next level. Sign up for either  2.5 hours or stay for the full 5 hours. This course is designed to provide a studio in which each student may participate at thier own pace with individual instruction and regular instructor demonstrations. Learn drawing fundementals and the basics of oils, or acrylics with one of our favorite instructors Christopher Sherry.

Do you have photo's from vacations and travel that you have thought about using as inspiration for a painting, but have just never gotten around to it- or maybe don't know how to approach it? Have fun capturing the essence of the special places visited in this this one day workshop. We'll cover how to simplify and design effective compositions from your own photo's and then paint them in watercolor. Turn memories of one of your favorite places into a watercolor painting to enjoy!

Shauna Delong will teach this basic class exploring the use of color as a tool to problem solving, from the traditional palette to the intuitive. Special emphasis on controlling the paint, using either gouache (opaque watercolor) or oil, while experimenting with various surfaces. This class is perfect for beginners.

Painting the Still Life: Oil Painting Fundementals for Beginners with Ann Goble

9 Fridays, 9AM-12PM, Sept: 10, 17,24; October: 1, 8, 15, 29; Nov. 5, and 19.

FEE: $220, $200 Member, $190 S/T/SR

This class is for the beginner interested in learning the basics of oil painting. Students will learn canvas priming and toning, brush care and selection, color mixing, how to set-up a still life, principles of design, creating purposeful edge variation, movement, and light. Our goal is to learn how to sensitively convey the beauty of objects, by teaching the student oil painting fundamentals through lots of painting time, individual and group instruction, and instructor demonstrations.

Intro to Colored Pencil with Debra Yaun

Four Thursdays, October 7-28

2 hours, 10:00AM-12:00PM, FEE: $120, $110 Member, $100 Senior Citizen/Teacher/Student 

All skill levels, ages 15 and up. Students will cover all the basics of rendering work in colored pencil. Debra is highly qualified and will get you started in mastering this fascinating medium with special attention to student interest in varying techniques.
