Beginning Bas Relief with Mary Hull

Cost $150

A French term from the Italian basso-relievo ('low relief') bas relief is a sculpture technique in which figures and/or other design elements are just barely more prominent than the overall flat background. For any beginner ages 11+ you will be creating a 4x4 to 6x6 tile using waxed based clay. Attention will be given to textures. Each student will leave with a reusable mold and a hydro stone cast of their relief. Click HERE for the supply list.

Using traditional methods each student will make a set of paints to keep and use. Each tube will be of a single pigment. The number of students will determine the range of colors taken home. Supply list availble HERE.

This course is specifically designed for those who would love to learn the basics of drawing. For ages 14 and up. this is a perfect class for high school students and adults who want to delve into the realm of drawing basics. If you have the desire to learn and want to cultivate your artistic drawing abilities this is the class is designed for you! Elizabeth Nelson, UGA graduate has a knack for teaching the fine art of drawing. Her background focuses on scientific illustration and design. All levels are welcome. Beginners encouraged to attend. Supply list provided on website. All levels welcome.

Popular instructor Christopher Sherry is back with his class that started it all! In this course, you will learn the basics of drawing. If you are an avid painter, you can also learn some new techniques in this course. Don’t know how to draw but would love to learn, this is the class for YOU! Chris’s unique teaching style is relaxed allowing students who’ve never drawn before to enjoy a creative atmosphere to learn this medium.
