Ages 15 and up. This 3 day workshop is designed for those who want to paint in oils, but haven’t yet, or have only a minimum of experience with oils and want a better understanding of using them. Students will study materials, color theory and mixing, brush techniques: such as strokes,  scumbling and glazing, composition, and lighting: as relates to still life, and perspective.  Students will execute one or two small still life paintings in which they will learn the tricks to rendering objects so they appear to be 3 dimensional.  They will learn to preplan by doing thumbnail sketches, life size sketches and an under painting to help them get it right when they put the brush to canvas!  Supply list available online.
