Georgia
Watercolor Society “2010 Georgia Watercolor Society Members’ Exhibition”
The Georgia Watercolor
Society was formed in March 1975. It was organized to advance the art of watercolor
painting while contributing to the cultural atmosphere and standards of the
State of Georgia.
In addition, it also provides support and assistance for its members and others
endeavoring in the field of watercolor painting. From portraitures, landscapes
and abstracts this exhibition showcases the best watercolor artists in Georgia.
Bob Safford, photography exhibition “The World Around Me”
Local artist Carlton Safford
shares his personal biography “Starting as a 12 year old in New York City in
1938 with a hand me down box camera, I’ve spent my life with a deep interest in
photography, learning from experience and reading and using a long parade of
increasingly sophisticated cameras to where I now enjoy using a top of the line
Canon digital single lens reflex. The replacement of film by digital imaging
opened a whole new world to me as it has given me the ability to do so many
things with the images that come out of the camera, things I couldn’t do before
because of time and skill constraints. My career as an investment advisor with
a major New York bank gave me the wherewithal to satisfy my addiction to travel
and that in turn gave me the opportunity to photograph the many fascinating
people and things I saw. I now live in retirement in Lanier Village Estates
where it is easy to simply lock the door and go off in search of more sights to
record.” This is Carlton’s
first solo exhibition at the Quinlan.
Jill Ediger& Richard Ediger photography
exhibition “Amalgam”
An exhibition of fine art
photography by Jill Ediger and Richard Ediger, entitled “Amalgam”, will be seen
in the Quinlan’s Bailey
Gallery from August 19
through October 9. This husband-and-wife exhibit is a multifaceted blending of
two distinct but compatible artistic visions. The journey taken by Amalgam
takes us through the cobbled streets of French villages, Zen-like gardens in
the East Coast and the South, and on to unique views of the American West.
While classical black and white images form the core of Jill and Richard’s
work, a smaller body of vibrant color pieces serves to accentuate the amalgam
theme of the exhibit. Jill and Richard divide their time between Atlanta and Dahlonega and are quite active in both the
North Georgia and Atlanta
photography scenes.
Pamela Keene, photographer
showcasing her photography “Colors of the World”
Pam Keene
award-winning photographs from Africa, Italy,
Greece, France, plus a
wide array of colorful and tantalizing botanicals highlight photography by
pakeene. Based in Atlanta,
her travels have taken her both far and near for some pretty amazing shots.
This is Pamela’s first solo exhibition at the Quinlan.
