Intro to Watercolor

This course will cover basic techniques of watercolor including wet on dry, wet on wet, washes, layered washes, color mixing and others. Content emphasizes painting from observation, color usage and composition.
Watercolor brushes: A range of sizes will be needed. A small round, a medium round, and a larger round,
as well as a flat.
Watercolor block (smaller blocks are ok, larger pieces of paper can be bought individually if desired.) Tube Watercolor
Paints: Ultramarine blue, Cadmium Red, Cadmium Yellow, Burnt Sienna, Payne's Gray, and at least two different greens
Palette: White plastic palettes are good and cheap, but glass and ceramic work just as well

This course will introduce students to basic methods and media involved in drawing. The content will emphasize drawing from observation, development of negative/positive space, shape, composition, line, edge development and understanding of value and composition.
