Amanda Kroll Announced as new executive directorThe Quinlan Visual Arts Center’s board of trustees has named interim director Amanda Kroll as the center’s new Executive Director. Following a national search, board president Carlos Dominguez said Amanda’s outstanding performance as interim director over the past months made her the clear choice. “She showed tremendous poise, clarity of purpose and commitment to achieving the Quinlan's mission in her everyday activities,” Dominguez said. “Not only did the Quinlan not skip a beat in delivering of its services to our community during the transition, but the services improved significantly.”
Kroll has served at the center for almost five years, first as Assistant Director and then as interim director. In conjunction with the board, Kroll also has been key in an extensive effort to redefine and strengthen the center’s effectiveness in achieving its mission. She envisions a broader reach for the center that will attract new visitors while continuing to serve existing membership. “I want this to be the beginning of a new era of accessibility for the Quinlan,” Kroll said. “While honoring and preserving our past, we also need to look to the future and to take advantage of new innovations to aid in our goal to make the Quinlan among the top visual arts centers in the nation. I am honored to have been given the task.” Kroll, a 1999 Cum Laude graduate of the University of Georgia, majored in art history. She later completed graduate work at Georgia State University, where she focused on Italian medieval and renaissance art. She also attended the University of Georgia’ s Studies Abroad Program in Cortona, Italy. A Gainesville resident, Kroll is a member of the of the local DAR chapter, the Col.
