 The Quinlan has received a grant from the Scott Hudgens Family Foundation in Support of Summer Art Camp, 2011. This grant will be utilized to provide scholarships to north Georgia students (rising 1st - 8th graders) to attend art camp this summer free of charge.

Hall County Elementary Schools Celebrate Arty Attendance Party at the Quinlan!

“Come Play with Clay! Mud and Ice Cream Party at the Quinlan”

 In collaboration with the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce, The Quinlan Visual Arts Center is proud to be a part of the Partners in Education (PIE) program. We will provide free of charge an incentive-based field trip to the class from each of the city elementary schools that has the best attendance in the first semester of the year. The class selected from each elementary school will receive an “Arty Attendance Party” that will feature our ceramics team and a fun and easy one-fire hand building project that is sure to delight and inspire with good muddy fun. Students will be instructed by a group of Quinlan teachers and complete one finished project each; previous ideas include bells, angels, mirrors, bugs, statues, plates, personalized signs and much more.

 The parties are scheduled for the following dates and times:

 Centennial Elementary:  Monday, March 21, 2011, 10AM-12PM

Enota Elementary: Wednesday, March 23, 2011, 10AM-12PM

Fair Street Elementary: Friday, March 25, 2011, 10AM-12PM

Gainesville Elementary: Monday, March 28, 2011, 10AM-12PM

New Holland Elementary: Wednesday, March 30, 2011, 10AM-12PM

Students should bring a sack lunch. A special ice cream treat will be sponsored by Truelove Dairy for dessert.

Bob White "81 Pots" Special Drawing
Bob White has generously donated an original oil painting from his series "81 Pots" which was on display December 9 - February 19, 2011. We held a special drawing and Delores Diaz was the winner! Congratulations, Delores!
 
Youth Art Month, 2011

March is nationally recognized as Youth Art Month, and at the Quinlan Visual Arts Center it will be celebrated in style. All Quinlan gallery spaces will be devoted to the display of youth art entries from March 17 through April 9, 2011.  This annual youth art competition is sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Gainesville.  All local Gainesville and Hall County middle and high schools have been invited to submit their best artwork from students grade 6 to 12.  Winners of this competition will receive scholarship awards from the Charles J. Thurmond Youth Art Scholarship fund.  The award announcements will be made at a reception for students and parents will be held at the Quinlan on Friday, March 18, from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. 

We are so pleased to announce the opportunity for elementary students to participate in Youth Art Month this spring!

This is a non-competitive art exhibition for elementary school students grades 3 – 5. All participants will receive special certificates of recognition. Click HERE for official announcement and art entry forms.

Art of Our Mothers, 2011

"Confident Graduate" by artist Nancy Dusenberry

Art of Our Mothers is a special juried exhibition for spring 2011. This is an open invitation to all artists that are mothers (grandmothers, stepmothers or adopted mothers). Join us in celebrating the mothers that nurture and inspire us. Selected artists will be asked to provide a brief letter or statement written by their child or grandchild about what it meant to them to have an artist for a mother. We invite you to submit up to three pieces (drawings, paintings, photography or sculpture). Two dimensional works need to be no larger in total than 528 inches square or about 22x24 inches. (Sculpture no larger than 24" in any direction.)

Opening reception, Thursday, April 14, 5:30 - 7:00PM.
