Quinlan Honors Special Volunteers

Medallion Award Winner Dave Gines

Medallion awards were established at the Quinlan Visual Arts Center in 1992 in order to honor the exceptional volunteers that contribute significant personal time, expertise and resources to the center, enhancing the organization in a way that only the people that truly care about it can. The bronze ‘medallions’ are created by Joe Emery from an original mold by the late Bob Owens, proceeds from the medals are in turn donated to the Bob Owens scholarship fund at North Georgia College and State University.

We were honored to give out four Medallion Awards in 2009 to the following individuals:

Cheryl Hardin and Bob Stiehler

For Young Artists, An Evening With Brenau

The Quinlan Visual Arts Center proudly presents:  "The Art of Self-Promotion and Presentation, An Evening with Brenau University Art, Design and Interior Design Faculty."

Thursday, September 10th

Brenau University Art, Design and Interior Design faculty will present the fundamentals of professional self promotion for college-bound artists the evening of Thursday, September 10th from 6:30 to 8:30 P.M. This seminar is free and will be open to high school students, teachers and parents. Learn helpful “do’s and don’ts” for presenting yourself and your portfolio to college interviewers. 

There will be displays in the areas of Arts Management, Fashion Design and Historic Clothing, Art Education, Graphic Design, Interior Design, Fashion Merchandising, and Studio Art and studies abroad.

Portfolio reviews will be conducted by faculty members Barbara Faulkner and Mary Beth Looney. Please be prepared to bring ten to twelve of your best pieces for feedback and download the Art Portfolio Review Form HERE

Quinlan Internships

A BIG heartfelt thank you!

We must thank Elizabeth Collins and Leigh-Anne Gross for all of their hardwork and time interning at the Quinlan! 

Elizabeth graduated from North Hall High School in 2008 & is now a sophmore at the College of Charleston in South Carolina. She is planning to graduate in 2012 with an Arts Management & Art History degree. 

Leigh-Anne graduated from UGA with a bachelors degree in Sculpture. She currently resides in Gainesville and hopes to pursue an Art History degree at graduate school in London.

Brenau Banjos & BBQ! Kid's Crafts & Face Painting

Arts and Crafts for the whole family!

Brenau University held their 1st Annual Banjos and BBQ event held on campus and invited the Quinlan to provide creative children's art projects and face painting by Fox Gradin of Celestial Studios in Gainesville & entertained friends and family members for a fun-filled day!

An Enlightening Evening with Campay

Thursday, May 28th at 6:30 PM acclaimed artist Dennis Campay gave a riveting lecture regarding his new book "Images". Over 50 guests and members attended the reception & book signing.
