Quinlan Members Abit and Kayanne Massey have graciously loaned their bronze sculpture of Franklin Delano Roosevelt, which is now on view only at the Quinlan Visual Arts Center.

The bronze maquette is one of fifteen miniature castings that were sold to pay for the creation of a full-scale version of the sculpture. The pose, recreated from a photograph of the president that was taken at Warm Springs, is unusual as it is the only likeness of Roosevelt that shows the president wearing his leg braces in public. The piece was created by artist Martin Dawe of Cherry Lion Studios in Atlanta, Georgia.

The Masseys purchased number 12 of the series in remembrance of the date of Roosevelt's death on April 12th, 1945. The full-scale commemorative sculpture can be seen at Dowdell's Knob, a favorite picnic place of Roosevelt's in what is now the F.D. Roosevelt State Park near Warm Springs, Georgia.
