Also showing, “Golf
in Context” photography by artist Rob Matre . Rob is the owner of Matre Gallery in Atlanta, and he states that he has strong passions for art and golf. Rob’s thoughts on his exhibition “I travel to a few select golf tournaments and courses each year to photograph. My goal is to celebrate the game of golf in a style that floats between documentation, photo-journalism and high art.” “Second Innocence” artist Suzy Schultz Suzy works and lives in Atlanta, Georgia. Suzy’s thoughts on her upcoming exhibition “There is a first innocence – a beauty that is young, unmarred, untested. There is a second innocence – one in which the beauty is a result of the scars borne from the battles of life. I am interested in this second innocence. I seek figures, faces that seem to be familiar with the tensions of life. That bear some battle scars. And yet, have victory, even if a crippled or limping one.” “The Bald and the Beautiful” artist Jo Baskerville . Jō Baskerville is a contemporary artist based in Atlanta, Georgia. His paintings have been described as elegant, profound and sexy. The works are inspired by fashion, art, and world culture and believes art and fashion are one. Fashion Modernism brings elements from the fashion world to the canvas to create these works of art. As seen through the eyes of a dreamer traveling through the history of fashion, he uses the shape and form of shoes and clothing, along with the human figure to tell a story. SUMMER EXHIBITIONS

Chad Shore, “Beyond Lost and Found” Georgia native Chad Shore draws from a life of travel, music, and the stories of others to explore the light and dark sides of the human experience. “I want my audience to catch glimpses of passion, truth, and life through my artwork. By using a variety of media, such as metal work, painting, and sculpture, I am able to express a wider range of mood and emotions that capture the reality that life throws at us.” Chad explains. Chad Shore has also transformed his passion for art into a clothing line increasingly available at trendy boutiques. Many in the Atlanta social scene and fashion events have commissioned his intuitive style for fashion art. Chad is widely received and has generated much interest in the local art community. Whether it is through art or fashion, the presence of Chad Shore's work has been seen and featured in numerous solo exhibitions, fashion shows, and magazines. His explosively charismatic personality, intertwined with his eclectic style, makes his creations a full sensory experience.

unfailing commitment to a life of art allows him to grow and take on new
challenges, constantly bringing his innovative art to new levels. Possessing a
vast knowledge of the culture and vibe of the community in which he works and
lives, Chad Shore

Landers, “Voyage of Discovery” Rachel Quinlan Landers earned a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art, with a concentration in Scientific Illustration from the University of Georgia in 2006. She currently lives in Gainesville, Georgia. Her work is a departure from realism; it acknowledges that viewers bring a lexicon of experience and concurrent emotion to a painting. Facilitating storytelling and a sense of community and holding a significant place in her art and philosophy, Landers creates mystery, in essence – possibilities. Juan Alonso, “I Refuse” Juan Alonso was born in Mexico City, Mexico. He came to the United States in 1999 and embarked on a career in graphic design in 2001. He is a self taught fine art photographer and this is first solo exhibition at the Quinlan. Alonso states that “being an artist and a photographer sets me free from any pre-conceived ideas, allows me to see the world from my own perspective and express an image through that perspective. I'm guided by my heart and propelled by my mind. I want you to see what I see out there and to feel what I feel when the image is done.” Presenting Sponsor for the spring exhibitions featuring three young, emerging talents is American Proteins, Inc. , Tommy and Chantal Bagwell. Barry Sons resides in Atlanta, Georgia and is a native of south Louisiana. His exhibition exposes the recent catastrophic events of Katrina and its destruction of south Louisiana’s marshes. His oil paintings are accompanied with his poetry. Barry states “For eight years I have worked to bring this work to fruition and here it is – a drop in the Gulf, but it’s my drop. How could I make a difference? I could only paint what was left of Eden. And as I would paint, the voice in the deepest part of me said, “Write”. And the poems as simple as they are came. My hope is that some day my grandchildren can stand with their grandchildren (toes shoved into the blue-green clay of the river bank) and show them the wonder-filled South-Louisiana that was my back yard.” This is Barry’s first solo exhibition at the Quinlan. “Breakthrough to Beauty in a Hostile World” Judy Bynum George
North Georgia Impressionist painter Judy Bynum George resides in Helen, Georgia. Judy has synthesized her musical and artistic talents into a rich and multi-faceted career, including art instruction at the college level, professional painting, and managing her own gallery in Cleveland, GA. George's other projects include paintings based on “mountaintop experiences” from the local Appalachian and Blue Ridge Mountain ranges, as well as the National Forests of Georgia, North Carolina, and Tennessee. Thickly-applied mountains of color express enthusiasm for her subject while conveying a message of encouragement for fellow travelers. Over the past thirty years her paintings have become a part of numerous private and corporate collections throughout the Southeastern United States. George’s Impressionist landscapes have become recognizable for their identifiable brushstrokes, rich color, and playful and inspirational titles. This is Judy’s first solo exhibition at the Quinlan. “From the Source” Jill Schultz-McGannon
Jill Schultz-McGannon is an Atlanta based representational artist. Her still life and landscape oil paintings demonstrate her ability to capture the breathtaking essence of magical and unreal imagery. Jill states “Since I am a representational painter, I paint what I am looking at, and it also has a bit of spiritual implication, in that inspiration and creativity come from the source.” This is Jill’s first solo exhibition at the Quinlan.

painting while contributing to the cultural atmosphere and standards of the
State of Georgia.

Bob Safford, photography exhibition “The World Around Me”
Local artist Carlton Safford
shares his personal biography “Starting as a 12 year old in New York City in
1938 with a hand me down box camera, I’ve spent my life with a deep interest in
photography, learning from experience and reading and using a long parade of
increasingly sophisticated cameras to where I now enjoy using a top of the line
Canon digital single lens reflex. The replacement of film by digital imaging
opened a whole new world to me as it has given me the ability to do so many
things with the images that come out of the camera, things I couldn’t do before
because of time and skill constraints. My career as an investment advisor with
a major New York bank gave me the wherewithal to satisfy my addiction to travel
and that in turn gave me the opportunity to photograph the many fascinating
people and things I saw. I now live in retirement in Lanier Village Estates
where it is easy to simply lock the door and go off in search of more sights to
record.” This is Carlton’s
first solo exhibition at the Quinlan.
Jill Ediger& Richard Ediger photography
exhibition “Amalgam”
An exhibition of fine art
photography by Jill Ediger and Richard Ediger, entitled “Amalgam”, will be seen
in the Quinlan’s Bailey
Gallery from August 19
through October 9. This husband-and-wife exhibit is a multifaceted blending of
two distinct but compatible artistic visions. The journey taken by Amalgam
takes us through the cobbled streets of French villages, Zen-like gardens in
the East Coast and the South, and on to unique views of the American West.
While classical black and white images form the core of Jill and Richard’s
work, a smaller body of vibrant color pieces serves to accentuate the amalgam
theme of the exhibit. Jill and Richard divide their time between Atlanta and Dahlonega and are quite active in both the
North Georgia and Atlanta
photography scenes.

and interesting people whose faces tell the stories of their lives. Her favorite
country is Italy, with Kenya a close second. She often ventures off the beaten
path to capture images of everyday people, unusual landscapes and architecture.
