The Georgia Art League News & Events

The mission of the Georgia Art League is to support the growth and development of its members by providing opportunities to increase their skills and share their understanding and knowledge of visual arts through exhibition experience, a variety of educational programs and networking with other artists. Meetings are held at the Quinlan Visual Arts Center and at Peach State Bank in Gainesville (see meeting schedule below for dates and location) every third Thursday of each month from noon to 1PM. Bring a lunch and enjoy the program! Every three months, each member can bring 1-3 works of art to be juried by a different juror each time. Entry fee is $10 for the show and first place wins $50.  If you wish to join this group or to get the information regarding the latest news & meetings, you can learn more at their website www.georgiaartleague.com. 

Art League Membership:

As of August, 2007, the Art League now has over 200+ current members! Any current member of the Quinlan Visual Arts Center can join with an annual dues of $15 to The Art League.

You may bring your completed membership forms to any GAL meeting or you may drop the forms off at the Quinlan. Once you've become a member of the Quinlan and the Georgia Art League you may exhibit your artwork in their exhibitions! See exhibitions schedules below.You do not need to be a member to attend their meetings.

*Art work drop off instructions: Please drop off your artwork at respective locations between the hours of 11AM and 1PM on the date given. If you cannot deliver your artwork during those times, your other option is to drop off artwork from 9AM - 11AM. You may leave your artwork at the respective location ONLY IF (1) all descriptive is on a label on the back of your artwork(s) AND (2) your check for $10 is an envelope taped to your art IF you are submitting to the Quinlan. You will be leaving your artwork at your own risk since  no one will be there to receive it should you choose to come between 9AM - 11AM. We hope this will encourage more submissions and be more convenient for our membership. Members are strongly encouraged, but not required to send data on submissions to the Peach State Bank only to Barbara Brown prior to submission date so that labels may be prepared in advance.  

Clarification of Eligibility for Shows

It was announced at our January GAL meeting, that paintings which have hung in a GAL exhibit on the studio level of the Quinlan ARE eligible for entry in main Quinlan exhibits on the upper level..  It has just been clarified that the EXCEPTION to that is that an entry in a Quinlan Summer Juried Show should have never hung on either level at the Quinlan.

ALSO, please note another change: GAL member’s paintings which have hung upstairs in a main Quinlan show, ARE eligible for entry in GAL studio level exhibits.   However, a painting may only be shown once on the main level and once on the studio level.
