Next Art League Meeting:
OUR JULY
PROGRAM is
going to be fantastic! I have invited two extraordinarily talented and
well-known artists to co-chair our July meeting. Jim Chapman and Debra
Nadlehoffer have agreed to come and spend two hours with us, reviewing and
commenting on our artwork! I am thrilled Jim and Debra are willing to share
their talents with us. This is a great opportunity to listen to very successful
artists share with us how we can strengthen our artwork.
I
am asking Art League members who would like to have feedback on their work to
submit one piece of art for review. You can submit your artwork on Wednesday,
July 15 from 2:00 to 4:00 on the third floor of Peach State Bank. If that is not
convenient, please contact me and we can make arrangements for artwork delivery
at any time between now and July 15. Jim and Debra will then review the works
prior to our meeting and talk about them at the meeting, which will be expanded
to two hours so that there is ample time
for feedback. The meeting will be held from 12:00 noon until 2:00 on July 16 at
Peach State Bank. Please plan to attend even if you can't stay for the entire
meeting.
Until we meet again - here's to great art in
2009! Cheryl Hardin

Check out our FABULOUS show at Peach State Bank! Our exhibition
showcases 61 works by 28 Georgia Art League artists. The exhibit is truly
wonderful! Our judge, Dr. Robert Westervelt, was effusive in his compliments of
the QUALITY of the work as well as the physical display. He said the
layout of the show is phenomenal. It has presence. It is not simply on par with
Atlanta shows,
the work is showcased better than many shows he has seen! Kudos to the art
league members who helped hang the show: Anne Brodie Hill, Linda Blount, Sandi
Landergott, Patti Russell, and Debra Yaun. And the work intake and setup could
not have gone more smoothly thanks to Anne Trippe, Vinson Trippe, and Patti
Russell. I promise you will be knocked out by this show!!!

Amanda Kroll had these comments regarding the exhibition: "This was my
first judging experience of a show with this of this skill level. This
was not an easy task with such a diverse show with so many skilled
artists. I took several days and spent a lot of one-on-one time with
each piece. I went over the same three elements in my viewing of the
art work: composition, how the components were arranged, technique, the
actual application and skill displayed in each medium, and the artist’s
point of view which, to me, is what each piece had to say about its
creator."
