Contrapunto: Five Latin Artists

CONTRAPUNTPO is a group of Latino Visual Artists living and working in Atlanta and the surrounding areas for the past four years.  The group was started by Venezuelan Surrealist Painter Carlos Solis (www.carlosaugustossolis.blogspot.com). The current members are Peruvian Surrealist Abstraction Painter Pedro Fuertes (www.pedrofuertesb.com), Peruvian Figurative Abstraction Painter Dora Lopez (www.doralopez.com),  Abstract Mexican Painter Jorge Arcos(www.jorgearcosart.com),  Venezuelan Tropical Pop Artist Stanley Bermudez (www.stanleybermudez.com) and Carlos Solis.

One of the main missions of our group is to expose people in Georgia to the diversity and talent of Latin Artists.  We also try to exhibit as a group at a variety of venues such as galleries and art centers as well as our own individual solo efforts.  In many of our shows we sometimes include guest Latino artists and during our opening receptions try to include typical food and music from the different countries represented.

"In music Counterpoint is the technique of combining two or more melodic lines in such a way that they establish a harmonic relationship while retaining their linear individuality". - American Heritage Dictionary

Memories: Chatov Mentoring Group

The Chatov Mentor Group consists of eight professional and emerging artists and their mentor, Marc Chatov, Atlanta’s esteemed portrait and figure painter. The group’s work together over the past several years has culminated in a group show in which each artist developed several paintings based upon the artist’s personal memories. As each artist has brought his or her own experience to the table, the show will include a variety of subject matters and interpretations, including portrait, figure, landscape, and still life. Beyond the theme, the unifying thread is a dedication to advancement in excellence in artistic expression and skill. The show will include dozens of works, including several by Marc and Roman Chatov. Participating artists: Lorraine Baggett, Tim Beacham, Lynne Brice, Marc Chatov, Roman Chatov, Paolo Chiezzi, Kristy Edwards, Celeste McCollough, Fran Milner, and Kathy Wochele.
