Free Range Art Project

FAQ
Call for Artists! – We’re looking for great art that we can make really big as part of the Vision 2030 Public Art initiative.

Vision 2030 in partnership with the Quinlan Visual Arts Center and the North Georgia Community Foundation will be creating Free Range Art Project “murals” which will involve reproducing two dimensional works on an 8-foot by 8-foot scale durable, fade-resistant marine grade board. There will be 10 pieces in total selected on a rotating basis for the purpose of temporary installation in a public area in Gainesville/Hall County. Five (5) will be installed in 2015, and five (5) in 2016. These interchangeable pieces will be on view for approximately three (3) years. Artist will be identified on location in all promotional materials for the project. Sites and piece selections will be determined by the Public Art Committee of Vision 2030.

 Entry Requirements:
  1. Artists in all two-dimensional media are welcome (oil, pastel, watercolor, mixed media, photography, digital, etc.).
  2. All work must be original in concept, composition, and execution. Copies of master works or copies of published or copyrighted works are ineligible.
  3.  All installations must be of the highest artistic quality, demonstrate mastery of skills and appropriateness of media and artistic concepts to a public setting, and must be appropriate for viewing by all ages.
  4. Advertisements or signs, as defined by the local zoning/sign regulations will not be accepted; nor will the work promote a specific political candidate or party, religion or violence.
  5. Vision 2030 reserves the right not to accept any submitted work for any reason.
  6. Please submit form, biography, images, and statement about the artwork to info@qvac.org by August 21, 2015.
  7. Submit up to three (3) images, $10 per image, for consideration. Checks payable to “Quinlan Visual Art Center”.
Release:  Signing this form indicates that the artist understands that this is an open opportunity to participate in the Free Range Art Project. If selected, artist hereby grants permission for resulting work to be photographed, duplicated and reproduced for an onsite installation. Work may be included in promotional photographs to be used for promotional purposes on television, newspapers, magazines, press releases, websites or any other media deemed appropriate by the Vision 2030 Public Art Committee.  If selected, artist will release the work to be used in a public setting without compensation.
