We are excited to announce that Joan has authored a Walter Foster Book, WATERSCAPES. We have a few copies available in our gift shop.

Joan Darflinger’s paintings tell a visual story. In her new series entitled “Postcards from an Artists Travels” she captures those special moments in time as she travels the world for inspiration.

“Teaching with Enthusiasm, Painting with Passion and Loving Life in general” are words that Joan lives by every day. Art is her love, second only to her deep love for her family. Her four sons, daughter-in-laws and six amazing grandchildren fill her life with joy. Her love of teaching will always be important to her. To pass the baton of her knowledge to other aspiring artists is and will always be one of her goals in life.

Darflinger has also enjoyed being one of the few TV artists on PBS and Cable stations throughout the United States for many years. She was one of the first TV artists who presented the easy “How-to” painting shows which aired every week into the homes of millions of viewers. Her characteristic style includes a wide variety of subjects from portraiture, landscapes, still life, seascapes and murals. This prolific artist has created more than four thousand paintings during her career and still continues to enjoy painting and sharing her talents with clients and students everywhere.

Back in the 90’s Joan Darflinger and fellow artist Este Rayle were asked to create and implement the Alexander Art Corp. and Koh-I-Noor Corp. Certification Programs. Joan and Este certified hundreds of aspiring artists to begin their artistic journey of teaching the world to paint the incredible Bill Alexander method of painting techniques. Joan is one of the few Alexander Art artists who received the ”Master Artist” status.

STUDENT TESTIMONIAL
“I took her class for the first time last semester. She is so friendly and easy to get to know.  As a teacher and leader, superb. She explains everything and demonstrates. She also gives one on one advice and assistance. I am taking her class again. Everyone leaves with a beautiful finished product. She also extended herself beyond the time limits of the class to help those that need it." - S. Medrow
