aBOUT THE ARTIST
Hello! My name is Alex Sexton also known as The Crazy Dragon Lady! I am 19 years old and have been sculpting for about 9 years. I am self-taught, so everything I have learned so far has been through trial and error, lots of patience, and loads of practice. I first got into sculpting after reading the novel series "The Last Dragon Chronicles" by Chris D'lacey which has a character who sculpts dragons that come to life after she bakes them! After reading this, I became so bent on making my own dragons "come to life" that it just developed into a hobby and later, my passion. In addition to my sculpting, I am also a college student at UNG studying to be an art teacher in an elementary school, so my goal in life is to teach students just like you how to create art, as well as dragons! Now let me tell you a little bit about my work; I work strictly with polymer clay which is a man-made clay made almost entirely of plastic. It can be a little difficult at first to work with due to its hardness, but as soon as you start working with it, the clay will begin to soften and the fun can begin! Probably the most common question I get is "Is this clay be fired in a kiln?" The answer is no, as this clay is special and must be baked in an oven just like the one at your house. There is so much more for you to learn and I hope you will join me in my classes and learn how to sculpt your own dragons and unicorns in this incredibly fun workshop!
