Using bombyx and tussah silk fibers along with other natural fiber blends, embellishments and a textile medium, participants will learn the process of this craft, which begins with laying out fibers similar to first steps in the wet felting process. Followed by incorporating their own unique design style with chosen embellishments, (instructor will bring examples and demonstrate decorative possibilities), to create a one-of-a-kind 16” X 16” flexible piece of textured art paper which can later, (once dry), be manipulated to use to: -Display as an art piece or background -Frame a photo or picture -Cover book board to showcase a journal or concertina book -Enhance a specialty card or invitation -Incorporate in mixed media projects -Collage with several papers -Make beads -Weave an over design into -Add decorative stitching or beading to -Design a pocketbook -Wire frame to make lampshade -Fashion a vessel using milk carton -Whatever inspires you! Once you learn the process, you can use a bowl or other shape object to use as a base to fashion a decorative vessel. |
