Quinlan 2015 GALA Fine Art Auction Exhibition Open to Public

(Gainesville, GA)  The Quinlan’s 37th Annual GALA Fine Art Auction exhibition will be open to the public one week only Friday, February 27 to Friday March 6, 2015. GALA features the highest caliber original art work by local, regional and national talents. The exhibition showcases original fine art works by regionally and nationally acclaimed artists in the following media: oil, pastel, encaustic, acrylic, ink, mixed media, photography, sculpture and ceramics. Georgia artist Steve Penley, nationally acclaimed for his political and historical portraits, is this year’s Featured Artist Guest of Honor.

The black tie event on Saturday, March 7 is sold out, however those interested in purchasing a bid number, but unable to attend the auction, can do so during regular business hours: Monday-Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m; and only this Sunday 1 p.m. to 4p.m. The 37thAnnual GALA Fine Art Auction Presenting Sponsor is Willis Investment Counsel.

The Quinlan Visual Arts Center, 514 Green Street, N.E. is located in the heart of the historic Green Street district of downtown Gainesville, Georgia. A comprehensive visual arts center operating for almost 70 years the benefit of the Northeast Georgia community, serving nearly 20,000 guests annually, the regular business hours of the Quinlan are Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.  Admission to view the galleries is always free to the public. Steve Penley Named GALA 2015 Artist Guest of Honor

One of America’s most celebrated artists emerging from the South, Steve Penley will be the featured Guest Artist at the 2015 Quinlan Visual Arts Center Fine Art Auction, GALA.

Penley will be in attendance at the popular event and one of his original pieces will be for auction during the Saturday evening event March 7 at the Quinlan on Green Street in Gainesville, Georgia.

Georgia artist Steve Penley studied at the University of Georgia in Athens and later at the School of Visual Arts in New York. He is best known for his iconic portraits and signature painting techniques incorporating a unique style of bold color, strong brush strokes and vivid imagery.

With multiple awards and work displayed in collections worldwide, an exhibition of his work “True Color: Meditations on the American Spirit, An Artist’s Response to 9/11” toured the globe with destinations including New York, Istanbul, Cairo, London and Atlanta. He was the official artist for the G-8 Summit, solo exhibitor at the World of Coca-Cola, and has numerous books published featuring his art, icons and Americana.

The 37th Annual Gala Art Auction Presenting Sponsor is Willis Investment Counsel.  100 couples, 100 artists and one incredible evening, GALA 2015 will feature the highest caliber original art work by local, regional and national talents. Tickets go on sale February 2, 2015 and are $125 per person for entry to both GALA and preview night.  The proceeds from the auction directly fund Quinlan programming, including classes, exhibitions and community outreach.  Gala is held Saturday, March 7th at 6:30 PM. $125 per person, black tie, live and silent auction. Dinner catered by Aramark. Tickets include entry to Preview Night, Thursday, March 5th at 5:30 PM at the Quinlan Visual Arts Center.
