Catalina Gomez - Beuth | Beyond the Border
About the Artist
Catalina Gomez-Beuth was born in Medellin, Colombia, where she studied Fashion Design. Her love for art was deepened during the time she studied design of accessories in Florence, Italy. However, her true passion has always been painting. Her Latino culture and the experiences of diversity and multiculturalism of the daily lives in United States, country where she has been living for the last 23 years, her culture, life experiences and concerns as a person, as a mother and as a woman serve as inspiration for her pictorial works. Her artwork looks beyond limiting factors such as skin color or ethnicity, reason why all the characters in her artwork are depict in different shades of gray, with vibrant colors around it, leaving the door open for the viewer to connect with the raw emotions like Innocence, Hopelessness, Loneliness, Resilience, Happiness, Determination and many more. She joined the Contemporary Latin America Art Group “Contrapunto” in 2017, group whose mission is to present the richness and diversity of Latin American Art in US and the rest of the world. |

About the Artist
Intuition + Paint
There’s nothing more amazing and magical to me than nature. Light...air...colors...textures...sounds. All one really needs for inspiration. I listen. I watch. I absorb. Then I report back what I experience...I don’t necessarily paint what I see...I paint how I feel about what I see. I paint with my spirit. I allow my intuition to guide me. And I’m always amazed at what happens.
Canvas, paper, wood. I love it all. Acrylic and oil. The occasional watercolor...dirt, sand, mashed up leaves or berries...whatever can leave a mark, I’ll work with.
Having been a florist for many years, I believe that nature has all the answers. Spending time in a foreign land, in the North Georgia Mountains or on the glorious beaches of
30a with different qualities of light, different terrain, and a slower pace is what I crave.
Unplug from the normal. Plug into the unfamiliar. Absorb the energy of the place. Write a new chapter. Create an experience that once shared with others would allow them.
to feel as if they had been transported to the place I explored.
I walk lightly when I need to. And I’ll dance up a storm if you ask me...Fearlessly moving through the world with eyes wide open. And a generous heart to share. I am like a hunter atherer in search of unique information.
I think I've been a storyteller my whole life. I approach painting like a conversation. It's between me, the paint, the surface and my brush. Inquiring. Listening. Asking.
Nature is my teacher... all I have to do is pay attention. My journey starts every day with clear eyes and the desire to put paint on a surface. I start at zero every day as if everything I see is new. Self-taught. But my education is through travel and participating in art residencies. I have had the opportunity to delve into my work with fierce commitment.
Fully inspired, and always seeking...eyes wide open.
Acrylic, oil, ink, mixed media.

Bethanie Loudermilk
About the Artist
Bethanie Loudermilk is a distinguished nature photographer hailing from the verdant landscapes of North Georgia, where the natural world serves as both her muse and her playground. Born and raised amidst the region's sprawling forests and rolling hills, Bethanie developed an early affinity for the outdoors, a passion that has profoundly influenced her artistic journey. Specializing in abstract, floral, and macro photography, she possesses a unique ability to capture the essence of nature’s overlooked beauty, transforming the mundane into the magnificent through her lens.
Bethanie's work is characterized by its vibrant use of color, employing sophisticated color grading techniques to not only enhance but sometimes intentionally distort her images, inviting viewers into a surreal, vividly imagined world. Her mastery of vibrancy, saturation, and high contrast sets her photography apart, creating a signature style that is as bold as it is beautiful.
Before finding her calling in photography, Bethanie explored the world in front of the camera as a model. This experience in the modeling industry provided her with a unique perspective on visual storytelling, composition, and the delicate interplay of light and shadow, skills that she seamlessly translates into her photographic work. Today, she continues to blend her love for nature with her passion for capturing human emotion and form, making her equally adept at photographing models as she is in capturing the intricate details of a wildflower.
Bethanie's commitment to exploring and photographing the outdoors goes beyond mere artistic pursuit; it is a reflection of her desire to connect with the world in its most unadulterated form. Through her lens, she seeks to highlight the beauty in the overlooked, encouraging her audience to pause and appreciate the subtle wonders of their surroundings. Her work not only captivates the eye but also stirs the soul, reminding us of the intricate connections that bind us to the earth and to each other.

Diana Toma | On the cusp: Between abstraction and realism
About the Artist
Diana Toma teaches watercolor, acrylic and oil painting classes for adults, themed on different subject matters such as portraits, wildlife, cityscapes, gardens, and intuitive painting.
Diana says of her teaching style, "My classes are centered around fast, free-flowing painting release, and creative un-blockage. One of the things that I encourage my students to do is to create more from the heart and less from the head, letting go of any fear or self judgement. As my student you will walk away feeling so much better about creating your art. You will feel much loose and free, not just in painting but also in life. My workshops and classes are a safe place of investigation where you will learn to connect with your inner creative volcano. Experimenting and failing is a necessary part of the artistic journey.
See, it really goes like this: no failing, no progress. When you let go of self judgement, you create a space where creativity can truly flourish. And I concur with the way Scott Adams was inspired to put it: "Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes. Art is knowing which ones to keep."
I am a firm believer that anyone can learn to paint if they have the willingness to practice, given the right kind of instructions. Have you ever come to a point in painting where you are afraid that your work is not perfect, or that you need to already have some extraordinary artistic talent in order to achieve that perfect painting? Maybe you are afraid to even try painting because you think you lack what it takes? Well, I'm here to tell you that's not how it works at all; in fact, art is all about self-expression, letting go of the thoughts who block it, and allowing the imperfections, the mistakes, the unknown to unravel and reveal itself in your work process. Even more, some of the most fascinating works of art are a result of play and serendipitous accidents.

In her own words:
"With this selection of paintings on display titled On the cusp: Between abstraction and realism, I am exploring ways to merge realism with abstract intuitive painting. When looking at my paintings ask yourself these questions: If you could imagine yourself within the artwork, what sounds would you hear? How would you feel? What would you be?
My whole life gravitates around creating art. I paint to bring about a sense of wonder and engage you, the viewer, at an emotional level. I want you to create your own personal meaning from the painting you observe. If you are looking for a hint, read the title of each painting. The rest is left on purpose for you to interpret and filter through your own personal experiences. Art is not meant to be explained but experienced through your own unique filters.
Alongside my studio work, I’ve been bringing together a growing community of art lovers by teaching painting classes and workshops to adults. My goal as a teacher is to facilitate class participants to silence their critical inner voice in order to uncover beautiful images of the self by surrendering to play. In my workshops, we explore the emotional aspect of what we observe around us, using classic mediums like watercolors, acrylics, and oils but in a contemporary approach."
