Brian Davis

Luminous Oils

April 18-20
9 AM - 4:30 PM

$450

In the class Davis will provide numerous demonstrations to his approach to painting in oils. His meticulous approach is what has made his paintings renowned. Davis will talk about choosing a subject, composition, the use of a value painting (grisaille) and the techniques of painting that contribute to the look of his works and will be there to answer questions and assist you in the creation of your class painting.

"I have worked with Brian for two years and I am amazed at how my technique grows with every lesson I take and with every conversation I have with him," stated Connie Moore, artist and owner of the Fifthsister Art Gallery in Waynoka, Oklahoma.

Davis, known for his brilliant floral, portrait, still life, and landscape paintings, has artworks in several permanent museum collections include Huntington Art Gallery, Library and Botanical Gardens, the LA County Museum of Art, the Carnegie Museum in Oxford, California, the San Antonio Museum of Art and the New York Botanical Museum. He has had a long and interesting career as an artist and has endless tales from his fascinating art journey. He most enjoys expressing success stories of his students. Part of his career as a publisher took him to exotic corners of the world. Primarily self taught, he now lives in Reno, Nevada, and continues to paint and conduct workshops across the United State and Canada. His work can be seen on his website briandavisart.com.
