Artist Patrick McGannon
Patrick attended the School of the Art Institute of Chicago from 1985-1989 before completing his MFA at Indiana University in 1991. McGannon currently lives and works in Atlanta GA and has exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions across the US.
Light, shadow, and surface treatment are as much the protagonists in McGannon's paintings as the figures themselves. He begins with the intimate and traditional experience of working from life in the studio. McGannon removes all but a few clues as to the identity of the figures, evoking a sense of the universal and infusing the work with metaphysical import. A distressed, abstracted surface dominates the background and often encroaches upon the figures themselves, further evoking a sense of the passage of time, and asserting the paintings as beautifully crafted objects.Visit McGannon's studios CLICK HERE

"I paint and draw images that move me and hope emotions will be stirred in the viewer's heart, walking away with a strong connection and lasting impression. Bringing into focus memories and moments and in turn causing reflection on a personal story are a goal I hope to achieve by isolating that particular point in time. My committment is to continue to grow and hone a body of work with a strong voice and message." Visit Michael's website CLICK HERE

"Up Close"
Artist Joyce Hornor
Born in Fort Lauderdale, FL, Joyce discovered her artistic talent early in life. Married and starting a family, she applied her natural artistic ability to painting murals in her family’s nursery and working with ceramics.
After moving to Gainesville, GA in 1981, Joyce decided to seek formal instruction and worked under local water colorist Cecil Neal and attended workshops with Edina Sagert. After much experimentation and exploration, she decided to pursue an in-depth course of studio work in oil painting which she took from Atlanta artist Chris DiDomezio. During 4 years of intense work with Chris, she also attended various workshops by David Leffel, Dee Beard Dean, Marc Chatov and Scott Burdick to allow her to study many different styles and techniques of oil painting. At this point in her career, she decided that her true passion was for still life. After attending several workshops with renowned artist Roseta Santiago of Santa Fe, NM, Joyce was influenced by Roseta’s unique style. Joyce’s paintings now express her fascination with the effect light has on the display of inanimate objects dramatized by her trademark black backgrounds.Visit Joyce's website CLICK HERE
