10:00 AM - 4:00PM | $525 |
Enhance your landscape paintings by learning how to confidently and effectively include the human figure. In this three-day oil painting workshop, acclaimed artist and instructor Gayle Levee will guide participants through the process of integrating people into landscape settings to add depth, narrative, and visual interest.
Through a combination of demonstrations, hands-on painting, and individualized feedback, artists will explore key concepts such as figure placement, proportion, gesture, and the interaction of light and atmosphere on both landscape and figure. This workshop is designed for intermediate to advanced painters looking to strengthen their compositional skills and expand their artistic range. |

About the Instructor
Gayle Levée, a third-generation artist, began her classical training at a young age, influenced by her artist parents and grandfather. She pursued her passion for painting at the University of Denver, majoring in the subject. Even during her time in school, Levée's talent allowed her to support herself through art sales in galleries located in Taos, Santa Fe, and Estes Park. As she entered her twenties, Levée made the decision to move to the East Coast.
In New England, Gayle became a member of the prestigious Copley Society and studied under the guidance of Robert Douglas Hunter, following the Boston School tradition. Her unique artistic style quickly gained recognition, leading to exhibitions in galleries across Boston, Cape Cod, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, and the Central South. Her artwork has been sought after by collectors from coast to coast, and she has been honored with numerous awards throughout the United States.
Gayle Levée's workshops in the Boston School of painting have been featured in American Artist magazine, showcasing her expertise and teaching abilities. Recently, her work was highlighted in American Art Review, alongside her mentor, Robert Douglas Hunter.
In addition to her artistic pursuits, Levée has established the ARC-accredited Cumberland Atelier in Nashville and Franklin. She has also created a comprehensive digital instructional set of ten DVDs and a full-color book through Legacy Learning Systems, enabling her to share her knowledge with students worldwide.
Currently, Gayle Levée's artwork can be found at Bayview Galleries in Maine, Powers Gallery in Acton, Massachusetts, Bryan Memorial Gallery in Vermont, Richland Gallery in Nashville, and Church Street Gallery in Murfreesboro Tennessee.
