HOME FOLK: A Celebration of Folk Art

Self-taught, outsider, primitive, naïve, Folk artists have defied definition and broken down barriers for a century. Through their use of unconventional materials and subjects, folk art has risen in acclaim with audiences and collectors as a respected art form.
Summer of 2015 will mark a new exhibition to grace the Quinlan galleries featuring local and regional folk artists, including: Kelly Bentley Ash, Blacktop, Frances Byrd, Margaret Cameron, Pami Ciliax, Cornbread, Tex Crawford, P.J. Fishstick, Coralie Hardman, Joycelyn Hariston, Mike Jones, Eric Legge, Peter Loose, Bob McGill, Durwood Pepper, Kip Ramey, Jason Smith, Robin “Bird” Smith, Suzie Smith, “The Cap Man”, C. Larry Wilson, A.J. Wolff, Mary Hull, Fox Gradin, Mary Hardman, Kurt Hewell, Wayne Hewell, Don Wheatley.
Colorful, playful, from whimsical to macabre, humorous or edgy, many artists display biting wit with socially conscious compositions, or comical revelations, reflecting the vast and diverse culture of the artists and their perspectives.
The Quinlan Visual Arts Center is a non-profit community arts organization located in Gainesville, Georgia. With nearly 70 years of service to Northeast Georgia, visual arts programming, educational opportunities for the entire family and up to 20 major group and solo fine art exhibitions hosted at the center each year.
