Subject: Character Design Workshop Fee: $100 Students will learn how to create impactful characters through visual language and storytelling techniques. We will go over shape and color language, interpreting a character through narrative, and how to communicate a character’s role/personality through their design. Supply List | Students must provide.

About the Instructor
Karina Spătaru Toma is a multifaceted fine artist, illustrator, and visual development artist currently pursuing her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at Kennesaw State University, with an anticipated graduation in 2024. With a keen focus on the video game and animation industries, Karina's passion for artistic expression extends to freelance work and her role as an art instructor for teens and pre-teens at local art centers.
Karina's commitment to fostering creative environments is evident in her role as a co-founder and inaugural president of the KSU Illustration Club. Under her leadership, the club thrived, providing a platform for budding illustrators to hone their craft and connect with like-minded individuals. Her involvement extends to community festivals, where she not only participates but also showcases her art. Karina's artistic prowess has been recognized on numerous occasions, including receiving an Award of Excellence at the 2023 International Portrait Competition hosted by the Portrait Society of America. Her talent has also earned her university merit scholarships and accolades in high school competitions, such as the PTSA Reflections contest at the county level in 2020.
Consistently demonstrating academic excellence, Karina has been a perennial fixture on the College of the Arts Dean’s List throughout her tenure at KSU, exemplifying her dedication to both her artistic endeavors and academic pursuits.
