Course Description: This class is for any adult who is interested in drawing. The instructor will work with students step-by-step through the basics of drawing still life using graphite and colored pencils. Students will learn the fundamental principles of line, shape, form, proportion, composition, and perspective to get an accurate drawing. Students will learn how to draw a variety of interesting geometric and organic objects including vases, mugs, furniture, fruits, vegetables, and flowers. Students will learn basic drawing techniques, e.g., shading, hatching, cross-hatching, and blending. The instructor will work with students individually according to their level. All levels of adult students are welcome.
Supply List: A drawing board (11 X 14”), Strathmore newsprint drawing pad (11X 14”), Strathmore sketchpad (11 X 14”), Drawing/Graphite pencils (2B, 4B, 6B, 2H), 12 assorted colored pencils, an eraser, a 12 inch ruler, a pencil sharpener, masking tape, and blending stumps (optional).
Weekly class activities consist of brief instructor demonstration, student practice, and group critiques as needed.
