Drawing 

Saturdays 10:00 Am-12:00 PM I September 10-October 29 

​Course Fee: $300 
​

Course Description: A studio arts class in freehand drawing with graphite pencils and colored pencils with emphasis on line, shape, form, value, proportion, interpretation, and expression. 
 
Supply List (not included) :
A drawing board (23  X 26” ), Strathmore newsprint drawing pad (11X 14”), Strathmore sketchbook  (11 X 14”), Drawing/Graphite pencils (2B, 4B, 6B, 2H), 12 assorted colored pencils, an eraser, a  ruler, a  pencil sharpener, masking tape, and blending stumps (optional).
 
Weekly class activities consist of brief instructor demonstration, student practice, and group critiques
 
Schedule of Classes:
Week 1 – Brief introduction to art concepts for drawing, e.g., line, shape, color, form, mass, volume, space, value, time, motion, contrast, balance, pattern, unity, variety, emphasis, focal point, proportion, and scale.
Week 2 – Using drawing pencils to practice the line drawing, e.g. hatching, cross-hatching, and shading.
Week 3 - Pencil drawing of geometric objects from life.
Week 4 – Continuation of pencil drawing of geometric objects using Chiaroscuro techniques.  
Week 5 - Using colored pencils for drawing geometric objects, e.g., floral vases from life.
Week 6 – Using colored pencils to draw a photo of flower of student’s choice.  
Week 7 – Using colored pencils to draw portraits from a photo.
Week 8 – Continuation of portrait drawing from a photo.
