“Interpretations” featuring artwork by the Eastern League of Professional Artists (ELPA) after a successful first show, the newly formed Eastern League of Professional Artists (ELPA) is excited about their second show at the Quinlan Visual Arts Center in Gainesville, Georgia, November 29 through February 16, 2019. This group of artists will not only showcase some of their best work in the Quinlan’s main gallery, but will also have a wet paint show in their Roy C. Moore gallery featuring plein air paintings done around town as special added feature to the event. Prior to the reception, there will be a Patron Preview Party for local collectors and sponsors and several of the artist will demo their skills.
ELPA and the Quinlan are also collaborating with Healing Through The Arts, a local non-profit charity dedicated to helping those with mental struggles. A portion of all sales will go to this effort as a way of giving back to the Gainesville community. ATTENTION PLEIN AIR PAINTERS! Plein Air Painting Days in Gainesville, November 1-18, 2018 The call is out to all plein air painters in the North Georgia area to join us in celebrating the beautiful city of Gainesville. In concert with Quinlan Visual Arts Center the Eastern League of Professional Artists will be painting Gainesville en plein air! Artist will spread out over town and capture their favorite views of historic houses, downtown areas, the river and lakeside culminating with a display of the work in the Roy C. More Gallery at Quinlan on November 28th. This is a warm up for the scheduled ELPA Quinlan show that opens on Nov. 29 and runs through 2/16/19. The ELPA invites local artists to join in the fun and celebration. Register with Ed Cahill by phone or by email at [email protected]. All work must be started en plein air during 11/1-18. Photos of finished artwork must be emailed to for judging by 5PM, November 18th. The three best, judged examples will hang along side the works of the ELPA and be offered for sale to the public.
“Interconnected” featuring artwork by artist Marea Haslett. Marea was born in Birmingham, Alabama and grew up in the Atlanta area and California. She enjoys the mental process of painting, sculpting and writing. She graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design with an MFA in Painting in 2016 and has been teaching art for over 20 years. As an art educator, she develops and runs a successful art program and assists in all aspects of helping art students find personal success. She also develops curriculum, writes grants and promotional materials while providing art leadership in her school, district, and state. Her artwork is in several private collections nationwide, at the University of North Georgia and in various shows in the Atlanta area. She shares her journey with her husband, and their two sons.
“HeART and Soul” featuring artists from the Hoschton Heritage Group. The Heart & Soul Open Studio is a group of artists that meet in Hoschton to create and encourage each other in their art.
These artists:
• Meet weekly to work on their individual art and enjoy community.
• Work in a variety of mediums including watercolor, oil, acrylic, mixed media, collage, jewelry, fiber arts, pencil, clay, and more.
• Have attended and participated in gallery exhibitions and workshops at The Quinlan, Georgia Art League, OCAF, The Tannery,
Georgia Watercolor Society, and more.
• Provide workshops to the community in a variety of mediums.
• Hold an Annual Art Exhibit called, “Not Your Run of the Mill” Judged Exhibition every spring.

“East and West” artworks by artist John Guernsey. Originally, from southern California, contemporary landscape artist, John Brian Guernsey, moved to Georgia in 1993 for a business career, and transitioned to an art career in 2006. Having developed his drawing skills through college courses and workshop study, he now concentrates primary on landscape painting. Most of his work is done en plein air, or alla prima, (completing a painting in one sitting) although he is gradually increasing the output of larger studio paintings. His work reveals a keen observance of atmosphere and light and he is inspired not only by nature, but also by city life and architecture. Mr. Guernsey maintains a busy schedule of classes and workshops, primarily around the Atlanta area, and regularly participates in nationally ranked plein air festivals throughout the country. Some of his recent awards are 1st place at Plein Air Richmond 2013, 3rd place at Callaway Gardens Plein Air Festival 2013, and Artist's Choice award at San Luis Obispo Plein Air Festival 2012.
