Let me guide you step by step in this two-day workshop through the creation of a finished floral painting in oils. Detailed demonstrations followed by practice time and one on one help during each stage will be provided. Day 1 we will cover how to light a still life for success and taking your time in composing your design. Drawing tips for creating a great starting underpainting will also be demonstrated such as measuring and siting angles and more. Blocking in and value mapping will also be explained in detail. Day 2 will focus on pallet discipline, color mixing and following a value map to help you finish your painting with a strong composition that holds together. And we will do it all while enjoying the beautiful and inspiring subject of flowers.
Artist Bio
Ann Moeller Steverson has over 15 years of experience as an art instructor sharing her love of art with students of all ages. Ann is an oil painter known for her mood filled figures, portraits, and still-lifes. Her contemporary work bridges the classical beauty with the contemporary painting practices of today. Born in Madison, Alabama, in 1980, Ann began painting in oils at the University of Montevallo in 1999. She graduated in 2002 from the University of Alabama in Huntsville, completing a B.A. with a Fine Arts Concentration. Ann then acquired a Masters of Art Education from Alabama A&M University in Normal, Alabama.
She has been awarded the honor of the Bold Brush Award, a distinction an artist may achieve only once in their lifetime. Ann’s work has recently been selected as a finalist in the Art Renewal Center, been featured in several Oil Painters of America exhibits, and has been awarded by the National Acrylic and Oil Painters Society, and Portrait Society of America.
In 2015, Ann partnered with two other artists to help co-found Protege Atelier, where she paints, teaches, and assists in bringing master artist workshops to Huntsville.
Ann exhibits her work both nationally and locally.
