1:00 PM- 3:30 PM | $150 PREREQUISITE — THIS IS NOT AN INTRODUCTORY COURSE! Students must have experience working with watercolor and an understanding of the watercolor medium.
Krys Pettit can help you with your watercolor challenges in this new class, Coaching for Watercolor Painters. She will keep you focused on developing your own style in watercolor but will give you suggestions on how to strengthen your paintings with watercolor technique and composition hints. In Coaching for Watercolor Painters, you will be working on your own subject matter. Krys will work with each student with an emphasis on the challenges of the medium, tips and tricks on working with watercolor and the exciting journey of working in watercolor. With 30 years of experience painting in watercolor, Krys brings an abundance of knowledge and personal experience to this coaching class. She can help you advance with the watercolor medium, strengthen your individual skills, and gain confidence. SUPPLY LIST
Supplies are what you are currently using for your watercolor painting plus a 9x12” sketch pad, (2) #2 pencils and a kneaded eraser. PLEASE NOTE: You will use your own watercolor supplies only — NO ACRYLIC, NO GOUACHE, NO OILS, NO MIXED MEDIA. |

Exploring Watercolor I: Tuesday, January 7, 2025 - February 11th, 2025 9:30 AM - 12:00 PM | $150 Exploring Watercolor II: Tuesday, February 18, 2025- March 25, 2025 9:30 AM - 12:00 PM | $150 In Exploring Watercolor I and II, Krys Pettit will give you the basics and practical knowledge of working with watercolor. You will get tips and tricks based on her real-life personal experience, watch Krys demonstrate how to paint, and practice techniques. You’ll create your own paintings and learn to develop your personal artistic style. Krys can help you overcome hesitation and gain confidence with this exciting and beautiful medium.

Watercolor Painting on Unique Surfaces
SUPPLY LIST
Please bring your own supplies that you are currently using for your watercolor painting plus a #2 pencil, a kneaded eraser, paper towels and tissues. PLEASE NOTE: You will use your own watercolor supplies only — NO ACRYLIC, NO GOUACHE, NO OILS, NO MIXED MEDIA. Krys will supply a sample surface to work on each week of hot press paper, gessoed watercolor paper, watercolor canvas sheets, and acrylic paper for watercolor. Tuesday, September 9, 2025 - September 30, 2025 | Age Group- 21 years +
10:00 AM - 12:00 PM | $100 In this class you’ll experience watercolor painting on new and unique surfaces. The class is designed for the student who has experience in watercolor painting but wants to explore new ways to use the medium. You will give have the opportunity to experiment with creative, flowing watercolor techniques on (4) different surfaces other than the usual 140 lb. cold press paper. Each week a new surface will be explored as Krys demonstrates how she handles hot press watercolor paper, gesso coated watercolor paper, watercolor canvas sheets, and a special acrylic watercolor paper. You’ll be painting on a new surface each week based on the demo Krys presents. You’ll kick start your creativity as you see the different ways to paint on each new surface. Krys will supply a sample of the surface you will work on each week for you to create the same kind of painting Krys shows in the demo. By the end of the class, you will have 4 small paintings that are expressed in 4 different ways! Krys knows how to keep you motivated and work through the tough areas. She shares her own techniques and experiences with watercolor painting helping you learn and enjoy at the same time. Krys has been painting in watercolor for over 30 years and has exhibited in many regional exhibits during that time. She has been teaching watercolor at the Quinlan and has a helped students learn about the magic and joy of watercolor. |

Krys Pettit has worked with watercolor for almost 30 years. Her love of the medium and her experience make her an expert in handling watercolor. Having taken workshops with nationally known instructors Tony Couch, Tom Lynch, and Tony Van Hasselt along with regional watercolor teachers and private instructors, Krys brings knowledge, painting demonstrations and a sense of fun to her work and teaching.
Krys Pettit began exhibiting over 20 years ago and has continually shared her work in art centers, exhibitions and art festivals. She recently exhibited 32 of her watercolors in the Quinlan Visual Arts Center Spring 2022 Exhibition.
Krys has also exhibited her work in juried art exhibitions at The Alpharetta Arts Center, The Atlanta Artists Center, The Booth Museum of Art Downtown Gallery, The Bowman Art Center, The Marietta-Cobb Museum of Art, and Tannery Row Artist Colony. She is honored to have her work and watercolor house portraits in many private collections in the US and abroad.
