6th Annual YMAS National Competition 2018 Young Marine Artist Search (YMAS) Art Students ages 16 to 23
The American Society of Marine Artists is dedicated to the support and encouragement of young artists who are drawn to painting or sculpting marine subjects – anything related to oceans, rivers, and lakes.
Seven art works were selected from the 10th, 11th, and 12th grade art, showing at the Quinlan Youth Art Month, that were done with a marine theme or genre. All eleven works will be entered in the ASMA National Young Marine Artist Search National Competition. The results from the National competition will be announced in September, 2018.
Listed below are the YMAS award winners from the 2018 QVAC Youth Art Month.
First Place: Caitlin Marsh (11th Grade) “Encounter” Watercolor Homeschool
Second Place: Zulianna Herrera (12th Grade) “Wrath of Emotions” Acrylic Gainesville HS
Third Place: Sophia Bradley (12th Grade) “Planet X” Watercolor North Hall HS
HM: Daniela Blanearte (10th Grade) “Co-Existence” W/C & Ink North Hall HS
HM: Martin Lee (10th Grade) “London Bridge” W/C Lanier Christian Academy
HM: D’Mahri Robinson (12th Grade) “I Could Put You on a Wave” Oil pastel Gainesville HS
HM: Louisa Leimbach (10th Grade) “Koi” Scratchboard Lakeview Academy

YMAS Winners Photo Gallery
FREE RANGE ART PROJECT - SELECTED ARTWORKS
- These awards are given on behalf of the Public Art Committee of the Vision 2030 Initiative of the Greater Hall County Chamber of Commerce
- Free Range Art project started in 2015 in partnership with the Quinlan Visual Arts Center and the North Georgia Community Foundation
- 2-dimensional reproductions of works printed on a grand scale (8 feet- and larger) on fade-resistant marine grade board and placed throughout the community (in places like the Hall County Government building, Hunt Tower Parking Lot, Midtown Greenway and the Lake Lanier Olympic Venue.)
- So far 15 have been placed.
- These 5 more will be placed within the next 18 months
- Each artist selected receives $300 for the use of their image in this project (not the sale of their work).
